Day 221

Technology is what I thought was the future, and our city is going all out to develop this industry. The mantra of innovation, speed, precision, and ubiquity made us think that if we captured technology we wouldn't miss out on this era. We have infinitely magnified the importance of tools as well as materials, but little by little the city is losing sight of the value of the human being, the most basic individual, to this age.

I wanted to make a rain sound machine that constantly loops sound, in honor of a show last year that took place after a rainstorm.

When I first started this year, I stumbled upon the abandoned wood in the corner. Maybe because of the mutual attraction, or maybe because of the quietness, I fell into the mindset that I can only solve problems with wood.

The period of stagnation during this time allowed me to quiet down and reorganize the relationship between the real and the virtual, the natural and the digital. I started to study some of the sounds made through physical impacts, geocentric stresses, and I chose wood as a research material that could help me to understand the origin of some of these things in this rich digital age. 'Wooden things are solved with wood', this is a concept I want to pursue in my research.

Using only a single material in order to see what I am.
